Car Trophies and Awards

Q: What trophy sizes work best for different car show award levels?

Participant and dash plaque awards work best as 6 to 8 inch economy trophies that acknowledge every entrant without competing with class and category awards. Vehicle class winners are well served by 12 to 16 inch single column trophies with genuine display presence. Special category winners for Best Paint, Best Engine, and Best Interior deserve 14 to 18 inch trophies. People's Choice awards typically rate the same tier as special categories. The Best in Show trophy should be visibly and unmistakably more impressive than every other award, with 24 to 30 inch multi-column championship pieces the standard choice. The visual gap between a class winner trophy and the Best in Show piece is what gives the top award its meaning and creates the moment owners photograph and remember.

Car Show Trophies and Awards - Recognize Every Build, Class, and Best in Show

Car show trophies are the centerpiece of the award ceremony tradition that turns a gathering of automotive enthusiasts into a competitive event worth preparing for, traveling to, and coming back to year after year. Whether the show features rows of pristine muscle cars competing for class honors, lifted trucks drawing crowds to the custom truck division, daily-driven imports showcasing aftermarket builds, or a mixed field of classics and customs spanning every era of American automotive history, the right trophy communicates that the judges took the competition seriously and that the winners earned something worth displaying. Our car show trophy collection features car and truck figurine designs on traditional column bases in a range of sizes from affordable dash plaque and participant trophies to impressive multi-column Best in Show pieces that serve as the visual anchor of the entire awards program. Column designs with car insert figurines in gold and silver finishes allow show organizers to build a consistent trophy program across all award categories, while premium resin car sculptures offer a more detailed and distinctive alternative for flagship categories and feature awards that warrant a more distinctive presentation. Every trophy includes free engraving personalized with owner name, award category, show name, car club or organizing group, and year so the award serves as a complete record of the achievement rather than a generic figurine on a base.

Frequently Asked Questions About Car Show Trophies

What award categories do most car and truck shows use?

Car and truck show award structures typically combine vehicle class awards with special category trophies that recognize specific areas of excellence regardless of class division. Vehicle class awards divide entries by era, body style, or vehicle type to ensure fair competition among similar builds, with common divisions including pre-1949 classics, 1950s, 1960s, muscle cars, trucks, imports, and modified or custom classes that allow organizers to group vehicles with similar competitive profiles. Special category awards recognize excellence in specific areas regardless of class, with Best Paint, Best Engine, Best Interior, Best of Show, Most Original, Best Custom, and Longest Distance Traveled among the most popular. Truck-specific shows add categories including Best Lifted Truck, Best Lowered Truck, Best Work Truck, and Best Engine Bay to reflect the specific build styles that define the truck show community. People's Choice awards decided by show attendee vote are standard at cruise nights and charity shows where community engagement is as important as competitive judging. Organizers of larger shows sometimes add Mayor's Award, Sponsor's Choice, or Club President's Award for additional special recognition that extends beyond the standard judging categories. Participant dash plaques presented to every registered entrant are expected at most shows, acknowledging that every owner who brought their vehicle contributed to making the event possible regardless of competitive outcome.

What trophy sizes work best for different car show award levels?

Car show trophy sizing creates the visual hierarchy that communicates achievement level to every person at the awards ceremony, making proportional sizing across all award categories one of the most important decisions an organizer makes when ordering trophies. Participant and dash plaque awards work best as smaller flat plaque pieces or 6-inch to 8-inch economy trophies that acknowledge every entrant without visually competing with the class and category awards. Vehicle class winners in individual divisions are well served by 12-inch to 16-inch single column trophies that have genuine display presence without overshadowing the special category and Best in Show awards at the top of the program. Special category winners for Best Paint, Best Engine, and Best Interior deserve 14-inch to 18-inch trophies that reflect the selective nature of the award and reward the specific excellence being recognized at a level above class competition. People's Choice awards typically rate the same tier as special categories since the collective vote of the attending public carries real prestige within the enthusiast community. The Best in Show or Best of Show trophy should be visibly and unmistakably more impressive than every other award at the event, with 24-inch to 30-inch multi-column championship pieces the standard choice for this role at most organized shows. The visual gap between a class winner trophy and the Best in Show piece is what gives the top award its meaning and creates the moment that owners remember and photograph, so investing in the flagship award is always the right decision regardless of the overall event budget.

What should car show trophy engraving include?

Car show trophy engraving should document the vehicle, the owner, the award, and the event so the trophy tells a complete story when the owner looks at it years later. Essential elements include owner name, vehicle year and make, award category, show or event name, organizing club or association, and year. For example: Mike Torres, 1969 Camaro SS, Best in Show, Lakeside Annual Car Show, River City Classic Car Club, 2025, or Patricia Walsh, 1955 Chevy Bel Air, Best Paint, Charity Cruise Night, August 2025. Including the vehicle year and make is particularly meaningful for car show trophies because the vehicle is the centerpiece of the achievement and a trophy that names both the owner and the car creates a far more complete keepsake than one that only identifies the person. For truck show trophies, noting the specific division such as Best Lifted Truck 2025 or Custom Truck Class Winner helps the award communicate the competitive context without requiring additional explanation. People's Choice awards benefit from noting that the recognition came from the vote of fellow enthusiasts and show attendees rather than from judges, since many owners consider a people's vote the most meaningful recognition they can receive at a car show. When space is limited on smaller trophies, owner name, award title, show name, and year are the four essential elements that make an engraved trophy meaningfully different from an unengraved one.
